Grocery stores across the DC-area were packed Sunday evening as customers were stocking up on essential with a significant snowstorm’s arrival about 24 hours away.
Several inches of snow are forecast to disrupt travel across the region Monday night and Tuesday. The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the immediate DC-metro area beginning at 7pm Monday evening. See the latest NWS forecast and storm information here.
A cashier at the Safeway on Rockville Pike in Rockville says a parade of storm-wary customers began arriving in early afternoon. “They’ve been coming in since about 12:30 this afternoon. Or at least that’s what I was told. It’s been non-stop since I started at 3pm.”
Like many previous storms, bread and milk were popular items with customers preparing for this late-season storm. “I just wanna make sure we’re covered through Wednesday, maybe Thursday,” said a woman who plans on her two kids staying home for at least one snow day this week.
